ABOUT THE A.C.E. BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM

The A.C.E. Before and After School Program is designed to supervise the students of our schools in a caring and nurturing environment.  This program allows for the peace of mind that your children are being watched with the same care and manner they receive during the school day. Our A.C.E. Counselors are highly qualified; most holding a degree in Education and are First Aid and CPR Certified.

Our program is structured such that your children will be:

  • Provided a snack
  • Able to complete their homework in a supervised, age appropriate setting
  • Have the option to participate in Enrichment Workshops taught by our A.C.E. Counselors
  • Allowed necessary down time
  • Weather permitting, all children are allowed outside on the schools playground for physical activity.

With flexible scheduling there are options for the working and non-working parent to utilize our program and its benefits.

“ABOUT ME” LEARN MORE ABOUT OUR A.C.E. STAFF

WOODSIDE:

Kyle Gilfedder-Site Coordinator: Hi my name is Kyle Gilfedder and this is my sixth year working for the A.C.E. Program and my first year at Woodside. Before moving to North Jersey, I worked for another elementary school in my hometown for about two years.  I am currently working for my family’s business but still wanted to continue my involvement with children which is why I initiated this job.  You can usually find me playing several different sports with the students mainly because I am always so full of energy.  During my free time, I train in Jujitsu and Muay Thai.  I always volunteer at my local gym to help train other students.  I thoroughly enjoy putting a large amount of my energy and enthusiasm into working with children because of the appreciation I obtain in return. The greatest feeling is when you know you have made a difference in someone else’s life

Paul Brancatelli-Counselor: My name is Paul Brancatelli and I am a graduate of the physical education/health program at William Paterson University.  I enjoy my work and hope to become a full time physical education teacher when I am finished with school so I can help students improve their physical and mental skills. I am currently an assistant CYO basketball coach for 5th grade boys and over the summer I was an assistant baseball coach for 15-17 year old boys. I enjoy coaching as well because I learn each of my player’s strengths and weaknesses so that the team as a whole can help each other to improve. My hobbies include playing sports with friends like football, baseball, basketball, and soccer.  This will be my fifth year working for the A.C.E. Before and After School Program.

TimTim Van SadersCounselor: My name is Tim Van Saders. I am a junior at William Paterson University majoring in Criminology and Criminal Justice. My goal is to graduate on time to then become either a police officer or a career firefighter. As a volunteer firefighter in River Vale, I interact with children often, whether it be on a call or our annual Open House. I enjoy baseball, football, basketball, weight lifting and playing competitive softball in the fall and spring. Sports have always been a huge part of my life so playing and talking  sports with the kids is one of my favorite aspects of the job. This will be my second year with the After School program.

Meri HeadshotMeri Peters-Counselor: Hello! My name is Meri Peters-Tuohey and I am excited to be returning to Roberge’s ACE Program for the 3rd year!  I work primarily with the kindergartners at the start of each day and help them with their homework and other various tasks that they may need assistance with.  A little bit about me: I hold a bachelor’s & master’s degree in sociology from William Paterson University.  Always having an interest in working with children, I focused my graduate studies around parental involvement in schools. Before joining ACE, I worked as a grant writer/researcher at a nonprofit organization in Paterson, whose mission was to deliver programs and resources to Paterson schools to ensure that all children achieve high standards.  Wanting a change of pace out of an office environment, I decided to join the ACE program in 2015.  It was just the change I needed! No two days are alike and no two children are alike, which is what makes this job so enjoyable.  I truly enjoy watching each child grow emotionally and academically as the year progresses.  I welcome and encourage parents to talk to me about anything they may have questions about, whether it be about their child or the program in general.  I am here to help!  Looking forward to another year at Roberge!

Nicole Hanna-Counselor: Hello everyone! My name is Nicole Hanna and this is my third year working with the A.C.E After School Program.  I am a Biology Major/Psychology Minor at Montclair State University. My ultimate goal is to become a Pediatrician. I love working with children and have been working with them for five years now. I also teach first grade at a Sunday School. During the summer I work at a church camp and I have been doing that for four years now. I also used to coach kids in soccer. I love making a difference in children’s lives and that is why all the programs I do revolve around guiding them. Each child I meet is unique and I learn so much about them through each interaction.

Their safety is my top priority. I look forward to working with everyone in this program and I am forever grateful for this opportunity. Thank you for taking the time to read about me!
